iSE Website for Social Enterprises
Client: iSE
Brief: Produce a website that reflected the culture and business functions of iSE as an exemplary organisation providing services to social enterprises in the West Midlands region.
Objective: To create and implement a website which gave visitors quick and easy access to iSE services in a simple but effective manner whilst preserving an eye-catching design. To give iSE full control of their content management.

iSE, since in 1998, have been working to start, develop and sustain social enterprises through their range of professional business support services. Based in Birmingham, provide support to individuals starting out as well as to organisations seeking to expand their services.

iSE selected Aidem Digital CIC, a social enterprise itself, to create and develop a website for the iSE brand and on-line presence. The key objective was to make the site a powerful medium through which social enterprises could access useful information and find out more about who and what iSE are both as an organisation and support hub.

With iSE’s aim to create employment opportunities for people severely disadvantaged in the labour market by growing and sustaining social enterprises that create employment and provide benefit to some of many of the most disadvantaged communities, it was important for Aidem Digital to reflect this both in the design and functionality of the site.

Aidem Digital applied its Website Development Framework methodology to the project to help yield the outcome to meet the expectations and satisfaction of iSE. The methodology is a proven way of ensuring that website developments are done with the target audience and business objectives in mind without letting the project become a run-away project in terms of cost and time.

Aidem Digital produced the solution which needed to meet the requirements established and agreed after a very focused initial period of the project. “When developing for an organisation like iSE it is important to understand and translate the requirements from the vertical business perspective, and being a social enterprise ourselves, we understood the challenge,” said Indi Deol, MD of Aidem Digital.

Aidem Digital understands the financial difficulties and needs of CIC’s and social enterprises, and this definitely helped the project immensely by providing payment milestones.

With budgets being difficult in the current economic climate, Aidem Digital helped iSE achieve the desired result by going the extra mile to include changes and extras within the agreed budget. Something which is a concern for any business on specific budget, especially in the social enterprise sector.

“What matters is the quality of our working relationship and delivery, and working on the iSE website project was a pleasure for us. We wanted to make sure the iSE team were satisfied with the result right from the start to finish,” says Indi Deol, Managing Director of Aidem Digital.

“Using our methodology and approach to development of the website, gave the chance for the customer to be greatly involved with the deliverable. Key areas were: our workshops with iSE to determine the right design for their needs; our specific testing standards; our professional coding, and our streamlined support right up to going live, ensuring change requests are accommodated as much as practically possible,” adds Indi.

Elizabeth Barker from iSE said: “Aidem Digital provided a very professional service from start to finish, and were always on hand to offer their help and advice. They worked through each stage of the website development process with us, and really listened to what we wanted, so we felt involved at all stages. They were very accommodating and flexible to our needs, going that extra mile to ensure we were happy.”

iSE wanted a website that reflected them as a business but more importantly met the needs of their different types of users. With so many problems with their previous site, they needed a site which was simple to update and manage by themselves.

Commenting on the final solution, Elizabeth said: “We are very pleased with the end result and feel we now have an easy to use, professional-looking website that reflects our organisation and business need, which is exactly what we wanted! Thank you for all your hard work.”

Websites are a very important aspect of any business today, their value is still important for projecting your specific brand and on-line presence; despite growths in social media. Having the right solution for your website is what differentiates your brand from your competitors.

Sites can be built quickly and cheaply but seldom last due to poor design. This is why iSE put the trust in Aidem Digital to provide them with the solution that met their specific requirements with a design to reflecting their business and user needs.
